Terms of use

All the contents of the platform, which belong to the structures of the University's Cultural Heritage Area, are owned by Digital Library Pavia. These contents are governed by current copyright laws. Their possible use is bound only for personal, educational and/or research purposes, and not for commercial purposes. Digital objects are to be considered exclusively for personal use: therefore, any reproduction, publication, licensing, sale of images or any other activity that makes digitizations available to third parties, even if not for profit, is expressly prohibited. Modification, translation or any other abusive use of the object which could compromise its authenticity is prohibited. The reproduction of exemplary images of the digital object is permitted in scientific publications, provided that the source is correctly cited. Each digital object hosted on the platform is associated with a license which, in respect of intellectual property, determines its rights of use.

University responsibility

The University undertakes to guarantee the proper functioning of the platform and a constant check on the information published on it. The University cannot be held in any way responsible for those damages caused by the user through an inappropriate use of the platform.

User responsibility

However, anyone who intends to use the digital content of our platform for the purposes set out above is always required to check the terms of the service. Upon registration, by accepting the existing license, the user assumes all the responsibility that may arise from an incorrect use of the platform, even when he eventually assigns his access credentials to third parties.

Violations of the conditions of use

The following conditions shall be considered as infringements:

the release of false general information upon registration;
the use of content for improper purposes;
incorrect mention of the contents themselves

Any violation of the conditions of use will not only lead to disciplinary sanctions for the user (access restrictions), but may also have repercussions on the civil and/or criminal level. In case of damage, the user will be asked for a refund.

This license, in some ways, can be traced back to the copyleft licenses of free and open source software
	CC BY-ND	It allows you to distribute the original work without any modification, even for commercial purposes, provided that a mention of adequate authorship is recognized and a link to the license is provided. Therefore it does not allow the distribution of works modified, remixed or based on the work licensed with this license
	CC BY-NC	It allows you to distribute, modify, create derivative works from the original, but not for commercial purposes, provided that: an adequate paternity mention is recognized, a link to the license is provided and indicated if changes have been made. Anyone who modifies the original work is not required to use the same licenses for derivative works
	CC BY-NC-SA	It allows you to distribute, modify, create derivative works from the original, but not for commercial purposes, provided that: a mention of adequate authorship is recognized, a link to the license is provided and indicated if changes have been made; and that the new work is given the same license as the original (therefore, any derivative work will not be allowed for commercial use)
	CC BY-NC-ND	This license only allows you to download and share the original works on condition that they are not modified or used for commercial purposes, always attributing the authorship of the work to the author

The structure that loads the digital object can choose one of the aforementioned licenses.

The user, prior to each access to the Digital Library Pavia platform, is required to read the conditions of use (point F3) and the licenses associated with the deposited objects.
